  • Cowboy Bebop cancelled by Netflix after just one season.
  • Drive My Car was announced as Japan’s entry to the Academy Awards Best International category. The only Japanese film to win in the category is Departures (2008). A shortlist of 15 finalists is to be unveiled on December 21, from which five nominees will be announced on February 8.

  • Keiko Nobumoto, writer on Cowboy Bebop, Cowboy Bebop The Movie, Space Dandy, and writer/creator of Wolf’s Rain, died on December 1, 2021, at the age of 57. She also wrote the script for Tokyo Godfathers…
